Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. When you use the platform to manage your books, audiobooks, and author profiles, we store the content you provide such as book titles, descriptions, cover images, author bios, uploaded files, and other materials.

Usage Data. We automatically collect basic usage data when you or visitors interact with the platform, including page views, link clicks, IP addresses (for geographic analytics and security), browser type, and timestamps. This data is used to provide you with performance insights and to maintain the service.

Payment Information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment information (such as your credit card number) is collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. StoryKeepr does not store or have access to your full payment card details. We receive only basic transaction information (such as subscription status and billing dates) from Stripe.

2. Email Verification & Transactional Emails

When you register for StoryKeepr, we require email verification to confirm your identity. We also send transactional emails for password resets, email address changes, and important account notifications. These are essential service communications and are not marketing emails.

3. Email Collection on Download Pages

Some download pages on StoryKeepr may require you to provide your email address before accessing a file. When you submit your email on a download page:

  • Your email address is stored in the StoryKeepr database and made available to the author who created the download
  • Your IP address is recorded for security and abuse prevention purposes
  • If email verification is required, we will send a one-time verification email to the address you provide
  • The author may export your email address and use it for their newsletter or marketing communications via third-party email services

StoryKeepr does not automatically upload your email to any third-party newsletter service. However, authors have the ability to export collected email addresses and may add them to their own mailing lists. Once your email is exported by an author, the author's use of your email is governed by their own privacy practices and the policies of their chosen email service provider.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the StoryKeepr platform
  • Display your public author pages, book landing pages, and audiobook pages
  • Generate click, view, and campaign analytics for your content
  • Send you important account-related communications (verification, password resets, security alerts)
  • Deliver download verification emails when requested
  • Track campaign link and tracked link performance and geographic click data
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

5. What We Will Never Do With Your Data

We believe in being explicit about what we will not do:

  • No selling of data. We will never sell, rent, or lease your personal data or content to any third party
  • No advertising. We do not use your personal data for advertising or behavioral remarketing purposes. We do not run ads on StoryKeepr
  • No AI or machine learning training. Your content — including books, manuscripts, cover images, descriptions, uploaded files, and any other creative work — will never be used to train, fine-tune, or develop artificial intelligence models, machine learning algorithms, large language models, or any similar technology
  • No advertising or remarketing. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioral tracking pixels, or remarketing services (such as Facebook Pixel or Google Ads). We use Google Analytics solely for anonymized usage statistics with your consent — never for advertising

6. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform, including Stripe (payment processing), Cloudflare (security and performance), Sentry (error monitoring), and Google Analytics (anonymized usage analytics, with your consent). These providers access only the data necessary to perform their functions and are contractually obligated to protect it
  • As you direct. When you create public pages, the content you add (author name, bio, book descriptions, cover images) is displayed publicly. When you use download pages with email collection, reader emails are shared with you as described in Section 3
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, or to detect and prevent fraud

7. Public Pages

Author profile pages, book landing pages, and audiobook pages are publicly accessible. Information you add to these pages — including author names, bios, book descriptions, cover images, and social media links — will be visible to anyone who visits the page. Search engines may index public pages.

8. Third-Party Links

Public pages may contain links to third-party websites such as Amazon, Apple Books, Audible, social media platforms, and newsletter services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies. Any trademarks or trade names of third parties featured on StoryKeepr belong to their respective owners.

9. Cookies

Essential cookies. We use essential cookies to maintain your login session and remember your preferences. These cookies are necessary for the platform to function and cannot be disabled.

Analytics cookies. With your consent, we use Google Analytics to collect anonymized usage data such as page views, session duration, and general geographic region. This helps us understand how the platform is used and where to make improvements. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique users and track sessions. You can learn more about how Google uses data at Google's partner policy page.

No advertising cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioral tracking pixels, or remarketing services (such as Facebook Pixel or Google Ads).

Your choices. When you first visit StoryKeepr, you will see a cookie consent banner. You may accept or decline analytics cookies. If you decline, only essential cookies will be used. You can also configure your browser to refuse all cookies, but this may prevent you from logging in or using certain features.

10. Do Not Track

StoryKeepr honors Do Not Track browser signals. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we will not load Google Analytics cookies. We do not track you across other websites.

11. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

  • Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing (bcrypt)
  • All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Email changes require verification, and password changes trigger confirmation notifications
  • Payment information is handled entirely by PCI-DSS compliant processors

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you become aware of any unauthorized access to your account, please notify us immediately at [email protected].

12. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users via email as soon as reasonably practicable and no later than 72 hours after becoming aware of the breach. The notification will include the nature of the breach, the data affected, and the steps we are taking in response.

13. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. We may retain certain data for a limited period after account deletion as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

You can delete your account and all associated data directly from your Account Settings page. Account deletion permanently removes your books, audiobooks, cover images, uploaded files, analytics data, and other content. This action cannot be undone.

If you submitted your email on a download page and wish to have it removed, please contact us at [email protected] with the email address and the download page where it was submitted.

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:

All users can:

  • Access and update your account information at any time through your dashboard

15. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA)

If you are in the European Economic Area, our legal basis for collecting and using your personal data depends on the data and the context in which we collect it:

  • Performance of a contract: Processing your data is necessary to provide the StoryKeepr service you signed up for

16. International Data Transfers

StoryKeepr's servers are located in the United States. If you are accessing the service from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using StoryKeepr, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy regardless of where it is processed.

17. Children's Privacy

StoryKeepr is not directed at and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at [email protected].

18. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify registered users via email or a prominent notice on the platform at least 15 days before the changes take effect.
